Abstract / Bemerkung
#### Pitaya transcriptome assemblies and investigation of transcript abundances The RNA-Seq dataset SRP250877 was re-analysed to check findings reported in the corresponding publication. RNA-Seq reads were trimmed with Trimmomatic ([Bolger et al., 2014](https://dx.doi.org/10.1093%2Fbioinformatics%2Fbtu170)) and assembled with Trinity ([Grabher et al., 2011](https://dx.doi.org/10.1038%2Fnbt.1883)). Encoded peptide sequences were predicted and functionally annotated using a previously developed approach ([Haak et al., 2018](https://dx.doi.org/10.3389%2Ffmolb.2018.00062)). kallisto ([Bray et al., 2016](https://doi.org/10.1038/nbt.3519)) was applied to estimate the abundance of transcripts based on transcriptome assemblies of three pitaya species and the raw RNA-Seq reads.
