Abstract / Bemerkung
The article is dedicated to the problem of continuity and historical memory in a forming medieval corporation. The object of my investigation is the Portuguese university. It was founded in 1288-1290 and during the XIV c. it was removed between Lisbon and Coimbra four times. I observe the period of king Fernando’s reign (1367-1383) – at that time Studium Generale was finally installed in the capital of Portugal (1377, it remained there until XVI c.). So these decades can be named turning point in its history. Sources of my investigation are descriptions of the certification procedures in preambles and conclusions of notarial copies of royal and papal diplomas – and also some particular certifica-tion documents. It’s important to underline that most of these certifications form the cartulary of the university privileges. Now we have its copy of the XV c. – Livro Verde (Green book). This codex was an important source of the corporate law until reforms of the XVIII c. By these texts it’s possible to investigate how the indistinct system of corporate law was put into practice. Also they can help to see how the way of the institutional forming correlate with pro-found reforms in the Portuguese administrative and loyal systems that were realized in the XIV c.
