Abstract / Bemerkung
In this chapter, we will present our research design focusing on a methodological discussion of mixed-methods research and the knowledge produced by the qualitative and quantitative strands we employ. First, we will present our research in the light of the pragmatic paradigm that enables us to take multiple perspectives through the triangulation of data as well as research methods and discuss the quality criteria of such an approach. We then will briefly present our qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection with a focus on what kind of information we obtain as well as our methods of data analysis concentrating on the kind of knowledge, we are able to produce. This discussion will serve as further elaboration of how we approach the investigation of faith development in a nomothetic as well as idiographic perspective. The chapter closes with discussion of such an approach which will be further exemplified by the presentation of a longitudinal case study.
