Abstract / Bemerkung
Reaching superior performance is the goal of every athlete. Neurofeedback training (NFT) is a way to maintain an adaptive level of concentration for optimal performance by way of regulating cortical brain activity. This chapter covers relevant information regarding the application of NFT in enhancing sports performance. The aims of this chapter are three-fold. First, to provide both the theoretical and methodological basis of NFT in sport performance. Secondly, to evaluate the quality of studies regarding this line of research, with a particular focus on methodological critiques regarding how to evaluate the effects of NFT on sports performance. Finally, we conclude with several directions for future studies.
