The DM is initially fully ignorant of the payo\u000b associated\r\nto each alternative, and learns these payo\u000bs only after a large number\r\nof choices have been made. We show that, in the presence of an outside\r\noption once payo\u000bs are learned, the optimal choice rule from sets of\r\nalternatives is one that is as if the DM had strict preferences over all\r\nalternatives.
