The Model of Productive Processing of Reality (PPR) is a stable anchor in socialisation theory of the past few decades. Interestingly, the meta-theoretical reference point of an interaction between the active personality and a changing economic environment can claim to be timeless applicable to the current debate. At the same time, there have been ongoing changes in scientific discourse concerning both the operationalisation of the individual act and its differentiation of contextual and environmental characteristics. In this paper, the question arises as to which performance the PPR persists even under changed social and scientific conditions and after more than three decades of change in socialisation theory and research. At the beginning the PPR (1) is presented in its fundamentals and explained in thesis form. The four focus areas, (2) epistemological and conceptual assumptions, (3) reality processing in the life course, (4) socioecological contexts of reality processing and (5) diversities of reality processing will be related to current approaches and findings in the current debate. Finally, (6), theoretical and systematic research challenges are listed arising from the understanding of sozialisation as a productive processing of reality.
