Abstract / Bemerkung
Can stress be analyzed as a "social fact" (Durkheim), or do we have to take into account its subjective experience as well? How should we measure stress? How should macro- and micro-levels be related to each other in a sociological study of stress? These and related issues are raised in a reply to an article by Heinz-Gunter Vester (published in Vol. 43, No. 3, 1991, pp. 558-569 of this journal).
