Abstract / Bemerkung
''Backbone mutations''-otherwise possible only in model peptides or small peptide hormones by total synthesis-drastically change the biological properties of the trypsin-kallikrein inhibitor (BPTI) and can be selectively introduced into the contact region of the inhibitor by a simple semisynthesis. The derivatives produced in this way show impressively the difference between a substrate-analogous trypsin inhibitor and a trypsin substrate.
