Abstract
The combination of electron microscopy and field ion microscopy has been used to evaluate microstructural parameters such as phase relations, phase distributions, grain-size distribution, grain morphology and chemical composition of interfaces in melt-spun ribbons of Nd15Fe77B8. Subsequently, the data obtained has been used to interpret the magnetization behavior in this material. Finally, the role played by microstructural features during magnetization reversal has been discussed in terms of pinning and nucleation.
